Shaler Township has just been notified by Peoples Gas the details of their gas outage. Up to 500 customers have been affected by this outage. from a power line that fell down overnight. The power line then ignited an under ground gas line on Saxonburg Boulevard. Peoples Gas had to turn off the service to repair the damaged gas lines. They are working hard to repair these gas lines, but they do not have an estimated time frame as of yet. Once repairs have been made and it is deemed safe to turn the gas back on, Peoples Gas technicians will be going door to door to restore service. If no adults are home when they arrive, they will leave a card on the door advising the customer to call when they get home to have a technician out to turn on the gas, light the appliances and check for safety. Technicians will come out after hours for their customers who are not home when the technicians are going door to door.
