Today Marks Deadline to Apply for Mail-In, Absentee Ballots

Ballot Return Available in County Office Building Lobby Through Election Day

PITTSBURGH – The Elections Division today reminded voters that today is the deadline to apply for mail-in and absentee ballots for the November 2 election. Applications must be received by 5 PM. Voters may apply online at https://votespa.com/ApplyMailBallot or may go to the Elections Office on the sixth floor of the County Office Building, 542 Forbes Avenue, in downtown Pittsburgh. Voters going to the Elections Office can receive, vote and return their ballot while at the office.

For voters who have not yet returned their ballot, ballot return is available daily in the lobby of the County Office Building at 542 Forbes Avenue beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, October 27, through Election Day. Hours are listed below.

Voters will be able to pull up next to the building to return their ballot and should look for signage to direct them accordingly. Due to construction on Forbes Avenue, voters who are driving should pull up to the County Office Building on the Ross Avenue side and will be able to enter the building there. Anyone who is handicapped or requires assistance in accessing the building should advise the staff directing traffic of their need. 

If a voter has made an error on their ballot, or has not received one previously applied for, Elections can reissue the ballot at the counter of its office. Remaining office hours are as follows:

Voters are reminded of the following:

  • State law requires that voters return their own ballot; they may not return the ballots of others
  • Masks or face coverings are required in county buildings for unvaccinated voters

On Election Day

All 1,323 polling places will be open on Election Day. Hours are from 7 AM to 8 PM and anyone in line at 8 PM will be allowed to vote. 

Seven polling places (four sites) have advised the Elections Division that the location within their facility has changed, although the facility and location of the polling place remain the same. Signage will be posted to direct voters accordingly:

To verify your polling place, visit https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/pages/pollingplaceinfo.aspx. The state’s site is set up to use your mailing address, NOT your municipality.

Letters began going out yesterday advising voters that their polling place has changed and providing the location and address of their new polling place.
