[ARCHIVED] Questions Regarding the Recycling/Waste Contract Transition

There have been many questions regarding the transition to our new garbage/recycling service provider. Below are answers to the most commonly asked questions we have been receiving.

Questions Regarding the Recycling/Waste Contract Transition:

New Hauler as of 12-31-18    County Hauling - Contact Number: 724-929-7694

I left my recycling bin/cart at the curb.  It was picked up, but a new container was not delivered:    Please contact County Hauling at 724-929-7694 x7 or the Township with your name, address and the desired recycling cart size and you will be added to the list. If you do not receive a new container by your next pick up date, please co-mingle your recycling with your trash or if you have the ability to store the recycling until you receive your new container, you may elect to hold your recycling until you receive your new container.

I left my recycling bin/cart at the curb.  It was not picked up, but I received a new container:  Please put old Republic container at the curb and notify the Township with your name and address and the cart will be picked up within the next week.

The new cart that was delivered was the incorrect size.  I previously had a larger cart, but the size that was dropped off is the smaller size:  Please contact County Hauling at 724-929-7694 x7 or the Township with your name, address and the desired recycling cart will be swapped for a different size.

I have E-Waste and Household Hazard Waste – Which carrier should I contact for pick up:   As the current contract with Republic is expiring on 12-30-18, please contact County Hauling with your items to recycle and a date after the new year will be provided to you for collection.

Please note that beginning on January 1, 2019, you will no longer recycle glass or plastic No. 3, 4, 5, 6.  See additional information pertaining to trash service at:    http://www.shaler.org/216/Trash-Recycling-Service  The reason for this reduction in recycling materials is due to increased costs to recycling the above materials.  If these materials were left in the recycling stream, the collection cost would increase for 2019.

Please contact our offices if you have any other questions.
