The Building/Code Enforcement Inspector is responsible for the review of and issuance of building, grading, occupancy applications and permits, enforcement of zoning, subdivision and building codes, inspection of all construction and collection of permit fees.
All development within the township must conform to the subdivision and land development ordinance, the zoning ordinance and other regulations controlling grading and stormwater runoff. Permits are required for grading, building, certain renovations and for all land development. A zoning application must be filed with, and approved by the township prior to the commencement of this work. Upon completion of a development, the owner or applicant must obtain an occupancy permit.
The Township utilizes the State Wide Building Code, the 2009 International Residential Building Code, the 2009 International Building Code and the 2009 International Fire Code in addition to the Township of Shaler Code for all building and zoning enforcement.
