Chief of Police
Chief Jeffrey Gally began his law enforcement career as an Allegheny County Deputy Sheriff in 1967. In February of 1969, he joined the Shaler Township Police Department. He later spent seven years as a criminal investigator in the Shaler Detective Division. In 1987, he was promoted to Lieutenant, to a Captain in 1992, and finally to Chief of Police in August of 1994, and presently holds that position, overseeing the 25 member police department. Jeff is also Shaler Township's Emergency Management Coordinator.
Recently, Jeff has held the position as President of the Allegheny County Chiefs of Police Association and still sits on their board of directors. He was also the 2002 President of the Western Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association and presently serves on the Board of Directors of the Association. Other organizations Jeff is active with include the Crime Prevention Officers of Western Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, Shaler Area Emergency Medical Services and KOPS for Kids charities.
Chief Gally and Julie, his wife of more then 38 years, live in Shaler Township where they have raised their two sons, Jeff and Todd.
